2A+P/A is an architecture and research practice investigating the relationship between space, culture and collective life through buildings, exhibitions and urban projects.

The practice operates across architecture, urban design, landscape, exhibitions and interiors, investigating how contemporary forms of living, culture and collective life can be translated into space. Rather than approaching projects as isolated objects, 2A+P/A understands architecture as a cultural framework capable of connecting buildings, cities, landscapes and public narratives.

Its work spans a wide range of scales and typologies—from public buildings and housing to museums, installations, temporary pavilions, exhibition design and urban strategies—combining design, research and critical inquiry within a single practice.

The studio’s work has received international recognition, including the Piranesi Award, the Zumtobel Group Award and the Prix Spécial Hiver. It has also been shortlisted for the Aga Khan Award and the Medaglia d’Oro all’Architettura Italiana, and received Third Prize at the Asia Architecture Award.

Projects by 2A+P/A have been published internationally in A10, Abitare, A+U, a+t, Architecture d’Aujourd’hui, Architectural Review, Domus and Volume, and exhibited at institutions including the Venice Architecture Biennale (11th, 13th and 14th editions), the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAi) in Rotterdam, the Brasília Architecture Biennale and the Italian Pavilion at Expo Shanghai 2010. The practice has also presented solo exhibitions such as Savage Architecture at the Architectural Association in London and The Pop Out Show in Rome.

Alongside professional practice, 2A+P/A actively contributes to architectural culture through research, publishing, exhibitions and education. The founders have been involved in editorial and curatorial initiatives including San Roccoand CAMPO, an independent platform for debate, study and the public discussion of architecture. Their most recent publication, Maps, Models, Pictures, further reflects the practice’s ongoing investigation into architectural representation, design methodologies and the relationship between research and practice.

Teaching represents a fundamental extension of the practice. Gianfranco Bombaci and Matteo Costanzo regularly lecture, lead workshops and serve as visiting critics at universities across Europe. Together with Davide Sacconi, they currently teach ADS10 at the Royal College of Art and Diploma 20 at the Architectural Association in London.
