Maps, Models, Pictures offers a comprehensive overview of more than twenty years of architectural research and design developed by 2A+P/A Associates.

Rather than presenting a conventional monograph, the book is organised around three fundamental instruments of architectural thinking: maps, models and pictures. These are understood not simply as modes of representation, but as active tools for investigating territory, testing spatial ideas and constructing new architectural imaginaries.

Through drawings, photographs, models, diagrams, texts and archival material, the publication traces the evolution of the practice across architecture, urban design, exhibition design and research. Projects of different scales and typologies are presented as interconnected episodes within a single methodology, where design, critical inquiry and cultural production continuously inform one another.

More than a retrospective, Maps, Models, Pictures reflects on architecture as a process of knowledge production, revealing the ideas, experiments and representational devices that precede and accompany the built work. The book offers readers an insight into the intellectual framework that has shaped the practice since its foundation, positioning representation not as the documentation of architecture, but as one of its primary forms of design.
