The project wants to address the needs of the new library giving at the same time a new structure to the park. Location and form make the building accessible, crossable, permeable: it is the crossroad of the public activities in the park. The huge portico and the bench that defines the edges of the building are conceived as devices to host the daily rituals of the neighborhood’s inhabitants. The interior space is organized around a large double-height atrium defined by different kind of spaces: towards the square, the atrium opens onto the portico crossed by the main path of the park; along the side walls, two wings accommodate the main functions of the library, such as reading rooms, study rooms and laboratories; on the open front towards the garden, the atrium is organized on two levels with a large loft, thus welcoming areas related to the activities of children and families.
