TRIBUTE TO GIO PONTI

Created for the exhibition dedicated to Gio Ponti at the Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm, Palazzo e Torre Rasinireinterprets one of the architect’s most celebrated Milanese buildings through a contemporary graphic language.

Rather than reproducing the building as an architectural model, the project transforms it into a two-dimensional object composed of ceramic tiles. The original architecture is fragmented, unfolded and reconstructed as an axonometric drawing that oscillates between representation and abstraction. The building is no longer conceived as a solid volume but as an image assembled through colour, geometry and surface.

The choice of ceramic tiles recalls one of the materials most closely associated with Ponti’s work while simultaneously questioning the relationship between architecture and its representation. Each tile becomes a fragment of a larger composition, introducing a subtle displacement between construction, drawing and ornament.

Suspended between artwork, architectural drawing and design object, the piece celebrates Gio Ponti’s ability to dissolve the boundaries between architecture, art and the decorative disciplines—an approach that continues to inspire contemporary architectural practice.
