Dots, lines and squares

Dots, lines and squares is the contribution of 2A+P/A (Gianfranco Bombaci and Matteo Costanzo) to What is ornament? exhibition curated by Ambra Fabi and Giovanni Piovene within the framework of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale – The Poetic of Reason.

Starting from the first experiments made by Ettore Sottsass, with the coloured stripes of Superboxes, to the pop patterns used in the exhibition Superarchitettura, through the continuous grids of dots by Archizoom or the squared surfaces by Superstudio, and finally arriving at the exuberant and provocative geometries by Alchymia and Memphis, this exhibition is the first attempt to give a general reading of a phenomenon, that of the use of textures and patterns in Italian design.
